TikTok Enters an Era Where You Can Choose the "Amount of AI Video Display" ─ Thorough Explanation of the New AIGC Slider and the Aim of the "Invisible Watermark"

2025年11月19日 20:27
The short video app TikTok is finally introducing a new feature that allows users to control the amount of "AI-Generated Content (AIGC)" they see. A new slider labeled "AI-Generated Content" will be added under [Settings] → [Content Preferences] → [Manage Topics] in the app. Users who want to see more AI videos can increase the setting, while those who prefer fewer AI videos can adjust it towards "less interested." Although it cannot be set to zero, this feature allows users to tailor the "presence" of AI videos to their liking, marking a significant change. Simultaneously, TikTok is also testing a new technology called "Invisible Watermark" to more accurately identify AI-generated videos. In addition to the industry-standard metadata "Content Credentials" by C2PA, TikTok aims to embed a "hidden mark" that only TikTok can read into AI videos, making it easier to detect AI content even after it has been reposted on other services. Furthermore, TikTok is establishing an educational fund of approximately $2 million to improve AI literacy, collaborating with organizations like Girls Who Code to support the creation of content that teaches safe AI usage. In contrast to the moves by Meta and OpenAI, which are pushing feeds dominated by AI, TikTok has chosen to allow users to decide "how much AI video they want to see." This new feature is likely to be an important update for Japanese users as well, helping to preserve the reliability of information and the "comfort" of their timelines.
