Owen Cooper, 15, Wins Emmy Award! Becomes the Youngest Male Recipient in History for the Hit Show 'Adolescence'

2025年09月15日 22:37
At the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards (September 14, 2025, in Los Angeles), British rising star Owen Cooper (15) won the "Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series" award for his role in Netflix's limited series 'Adolescence.' He achieved the remarkable feat of becoming the youngest male recipient of an Emmy acting award in history. The series, presented entirely in a "one-shot" style, explores a teenage stabbing incident and its repercussions, sharply addressing social issues such as harmful online communities. During the ceremony, the series also won awards for Stephen Graham (Lead Actor), Erin Doherty (Supporting Actress), as well as for directing, writing, and Best Limited Series, totaling eight awards including those from the Creative Arts. In his acceptance speech, Cooper expressed gratitude to his family and the production team and mentioned the "Lucky Duck" given to him by veteran actor Jake Gyllenhaal, which became a topic of conversation. The overall record for the youngest Emmy winner is still held by Roxana Zal, who won at age 14 in 1984. This year's results hold symbolic significance for the development and casting of young actors, international co-productions, and global distribution strategies in the streaming era.
