Airbnb's New Feature "Pay Later Option" Debuts! The Reality of Airbnb's "Zero Upfront Payment" for Hosts and Guests

2025年08月16日 01:02
Airbnb has introduced "Reserve Now, Pay Later" for U.S. guests, allowing them to make reservations for eligible domestic stays without any upfront payment. The payment deadline is set before the free cancellation date, and any unpaid reservations will be automatically canceled. The existing "Pay Part Now, Pay the Rest Later" option and Klarna's installment payments will continue to be available. According to a survey, 60% of people prioritize flexible payment options, indicating a strong demand. On social media, there is a mix of positive feedback, with users finding it convenient for managing group travel funds, and concerns from hosts about calendars being blocked by unpaid "tentative holds." Initially, this feature is limited to the U.S., and the focus is on whether the design, which includes deadline management and a resale buffer, can minimize confusion.
