Fasting or Injection? "Ozempic" on the Spa Menu. Changing Wellness, Shifting Values

In wellness resorts across the United States, "parallel" programs based on GLP-1 medications (such as Ozempic) are becoming more widespread. Resorts like Movara in Utah, Hilton Head Health in South Carolina, The Ranch in California, Mountain Trek in British Columbia, Canada, and Skyterra in North Carolina are offering integrated guidance on nutrition, exercise, sleep, and mental health to guests who are taking these medications. The GLP-1 program at The Ranch costs $12,400 for a six-night stay (compared to the usual $9,200), yet demand remains strong. This trend is driven by the fact that approximately one in eight American adults have "tried" GLP-1 and the expanding wellness economy, which is valued at $6.3 trillion. On social media, there is a mix of support, with some saying it has "changed their lives," and concerns about "muscle mass loss," "fairness," and the "safety of med spas." Pharmaceutical companies are working on reducing prices and seeking approval for oral medications, while resorts are evolving to become partners in helping guests effectively use these medications.
