Just 10 Minutes! A Yukata Dressing Guide for Beginners Without Fail!

Summer festivals, fireworks displays, hot spring inns—there are surprisingly many occasions where a yukata fits perfectly.

It's a waste to avoid it thinking "Dressing is difficult…"!

In fact, with just two waist cords and a half-width obi, anyone can dress in 10 minutes.

────────────────────

◆ Items to Prepare

【Essentials】 Yukata body / Half-width obi (about 3.6m) / Waist cords ×2

【Convenient to have】 Obi board (to prevent wrinkles) / Yukata innerwear / Fan, Geta

────────────────────

◆ 8 Steps to Dress

1. Drape it over yourself Align the back seam with the center of your back and lower the hem to just above the floor.

2. Align the collars Right front→Left front. Pull the collar down about one finger-width below the collarbone for a cool look.

3. Adjust the length Fold the excess fabric at the waist to create an "ohashori."

4. Tie waist cord ① Secure it horizontally just below the waist.

5. Smooth out wrinkles Flow the fabric from the back to the sides and straighten the side seams.

6. Datejime or waist cord ② Keep the collar width (one fist) and tie from above.

7. Wrap the obi Leave 50cm of the end and wrap clockwise twice. Insert the obi board and create the wings of a bunko knot.

8. Finishing touches Rotate the knot to the center of your back and do a final check of the hemline and collar line in the mirror!

────────────────────

◆ Three Tips for Looking Beautiful

・Pull the collar down two fingers for a beautiful nape

・Wear the obi higher (waist position) for a youthful look

・For photos, align your toes and slightly bend your knees inward for an elegant stance

────────────────────

◆ Handy to Remember! Mini FAQ

Q. Worried about the waist cord loosening

A. After tying once, make a "half-butterfly knot" to prevent it from coming undone.

Q. The obi knot is difficult

A. With a commercially available "pre-tied obi," you just wrap and secure it. Perfect even with zero practice time.

────────────────────

Once you master it, you can quickly change into a yukata for services at travel destinations or sudden festival invitations.

Try it at home first while looking at the diagram!

Update your memories this summer with a yukata you dressed yourself!
